Behavioural Analytics

The paths people actually take, not the one you designed.

A funnel asks whether people completed the route you had in mind. A journey shows you the route they took instead — including the loops, the backtracks and the exits that never appear in a flow diagram.

Every branch, not the happy path

See the full spread of what people did after a screen, weighted by how many took each route.

The loops nobody drew

People who go back and forth between two screens are not browsing. They are looking for something that is not where they expected.

Where they leave

Exit points, ranked — so the screen quietly ending the most sessions is visible without knowing to look for it.

What User Journeys does

Follow the real path

Events in sequence rather than aggregated, so a journey reads as something a person did.

  • Forward and reverse paths from any starting screen or event
  • Branch weights, so a rare detour is not mistaken for a common one
  • Loops and repeats surfaced rather than collapsed away

Across every platform

One identity spans the web session and the app session, so a handover between them is visible instead of looking like two people.

  • Web, iOS and Android in one journey under one identity
  • Screens and navigation captured automatically, no per-screen calls
  • Cross-device continuation once a user identifies

Turn a branch into evidence

Any node on the journey resolves back to the sessions that went through it.

  • Open replays for the people who took a specific branch
  • Compare a converting route against a non-converting one
  • Feed a discovered path into a funnel to measure it over time

Better with the rest of it

Every module reads the same identity, events and sessions, so an investigation that starts here does not have to be rebuilt to continue somewhere else.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from a funnel?

A funnel is a hypothesis you test — you name the steps and measure completion. A journey has no hypothesis: it shows you what happened, including routes you would never have thought to add as a step.

Can I follow one user across web and app?

Yes, once they identify. Before that they are an anonymous visitor per platform; after an identify() call the sessions resolve to the same person.

Do backtracks and loops get collapsed?

No, and that is the point. A repeated hop between two screens is usually the clearest signal in the whole view that something is not where people expect it.
